To improve your memory when you are studying, you should change the environment where you studying. Changing surroundings reinvigorates the mind, and causes long-term memory to be more efficacious. When it senses a change in surroundings, the mind re-awakens, and once it’s awake it gains the ability to absorb more information.
Remember that you are a lifelong learner, even after you are officially done with school. If you do not learn always, your memory section of the brain will begin to decay. So, you may find it is difficult the next time you need to remember something.
You can remember information by teaching it to others. For instance, if you have forgotten the plot of that interesting anime you watched last year, recount it to anyone willing to listen. That will reinforce it in your mind, and make it harder to forget.
Try to exercise regularly to help your memory. A little bit of exercise a day can help a lot.
Make your own memory tree. If you are mastering a complex subject, learn the general ideas first, forming a trunk. Let main categories and details branch off the core. The leaves of your tree will be reserved for the individual details of each subdivision. Organizing the information in this way can really benefit recall speed and accuracy.
Repeat things out loud. When you learn anything new, such as a persons name, repeat it to yourself outloud. Repeating to yourself facts or information in a place you can hear yourself saying it is a successful tactic in being able to recall it later. If you don’t mind being heard, do this several times for best results.
